JAMES HEUPEL

Jim is a nationally award-winning photographer whose primary focus is nature and wildlife. After nearly 27 years in the Air Force, he launched a second career as a photographer in 2007. Jim’s intent is to share the beauty of this world with others who haven’t had the opportunity to experience it personally. He works to capture the intimate, sensitive aspects, emotions and interactions often not seen by the public.

Jim has studied, traveled extensively, and co-led photographic tours with Canon Explorer of Light Arthur Morris and has studied with master printers Charles Cramer and Michael Reichmann. He has photographed on all continents of the world, including above the Arctic Circle and below the Antarctic Circle.

Jim had successful major shows at the RS Hanna Gallery (2014, 2016) and the Agave Gallery (2015). He was awarded the Judges Choice Award in the 2016 North American Nature Photography Association international juried competition, and several of his images have been selected as NANPA Showcase Winners.
